Belmont High / Middle School’s Student Assistance Program has been expanded this year to implement a drug and alcohol education prevention curriculum to all freshmen. In addition to facilitating the drug and alcohol education program, Belmont’s Student Assistance Coordinator will work with students that are at higher risk for substance use as well as a number of other issues the youth may encounter.

2-1-1 http://www.211nh.org is a hotline that can be called to get connected to assistance in any number of human service related issues. Most recently, 2-1-1 has installed an anonymous hotline for anyone calling to report an underage drinking party.

Above the Influence http://www.abovetheinfluence.com is a comprehensive interactive website that both parents and youth can get valuable information.

New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services http://www.dhhs.state.nh.us/DHHS/ATOD provides information on a number of resources available to our families.

New Futures http://www.new-futures.org/initiatives/ATI.html is an organization aimed at reducing underage drinking. This website provides several resources and also thoroughly explains the Adolescent Treatment Initiative which is an outpatient Substance Abuse Program for teenagers.

Substance Abuse Mental Health Services Administration- http://www.samhsa.gov/Campaigns_programs/campaigns_alpha.aspx - This government link lists a number of resources for parents to refer to for any age (Elementary – Adulthood) in dealing with Substance Abuse issues.

Drug Free America http://www.drugfree.org/ provides a great deal of information on the various substances and how they affect the body as well as listing more resources that can be utilized for families.

F.A.S.T.E.R. – Families Advocating for Substance Abuse Treatment Education and Recover http://www.fornh-faster.org is an organization that offers Peer- to- Peer support groups for parents that have children that are currently abusing substances.

Child and Family Services – www.cfsnh.org This agency is a great resource for families that are struggling with several issues. Teen runaway services to substance abuse treatment is outlined on this website.

New Futures- www.new-futures.org This is an organization working to reduce underage alcohol problems and improve access to treatment in NH through leadership and policy development.

Partnership for a Drug Free America - http://www.drugfree.org This website can provide a parent or student with valuable information in regards to signs and symptoms of drug and alcohol use as well as factual information about illicit drugs.
